Young siblings rushed to hospital after falling from balcony in Waterford
Two young children were rushed to hospital after falling from the balcony at an apartment in Waterford on Friday.RTÉ reports the glass pane on the side of the balcony fell off leading to a three year old boy falling around 20 feet. His seven year old sister also fell as she attempted to prevent him from falling. The siblings were rushed to University Hospital Waterford.Gardaí confirmed they assisted with other agencies responding to a “medical emergency” at the complex.A Garda spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: “Shortly before 11am this morning, Friday 20 March 2026, Gardaí in Waterford assisted other agencies in responding to a medical emergency at a residential property at Mount Suir, Waterford. An Garda Síochána has no additional information regarding the incident.”Waterford City and County Council have said a formal investigation into the incident has commenced“Waterford City and County Council was notified of a serious incident at the Mount Suir Apartment complex in Waterford City on Friday, 20 March,” a spokesperson for the council told RTÉ."The council has reached out to the family to offer support and a formal investigation into the incident has commenced.”Want to see more of the stories you love from the Irish Mirror?
