Six dead after man sets himself on fire on bus
Six people have died, and several others have been injured after a horrific fire tore through a bus in Switzerland.
Emergency services rushed to the scene in Kerzers in the canton of Fribourg after a postal bus suddenly burst into flames shortly before reaching its final stop.
Authorities have confirmed that six people tragically lost their lives, while five others were injured in the devastating incident.

The fire broke out just before the vehicle arrived at its stop on Murtenstrasse, with witnesses describing chaotic scenes as flames quickly engulfed the bus.
According to early reports from people at the scene, the blaze may have started after a man set himself on fire inside the vehicle, though police have yet to confirm the exact cause.
A large-scale emergency response was launched, but by the time firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control, the bus had been reduced to a burnt-out shell.

Images and videos shared by bystanders show flames shooting several metres into the air, with thick smoke visible from miles away. Debris from the destroyed vehicle and passengers’ belongings could also be seen scattered across the road.
Local police confirmed that five people were injured, including one person who attempted to help during the unfolding emergency. The identities of those who died have not yet been released.
Investigators are still working to establish exactly what happened, with authorities saying arson has not been ruled out.

When asked whether the incident could be linked to terrorism, a police spokesperson said: ‘We cannot comment on that at this stage of the investigation.’
Residents in the area have been urged to avoid the scene while emergency operations continue, with police confirming officers will remain at the location overnight.
‘The intervention will certainly continue throughout the night,’ a spokesperson for Fribourg police said.
A press conference has been scheduled for Tuesday evening when officials are expected to provide further details about the tragedy. The shocking incident has left the local community shaken, with witnesses describing the scene as deeply distressing.
