Irish holidaymakers warned as popular tourist destination hit with storm alerts
Irish holidaymakers should check their weather apps if they’re heading to Spain soon, as several regions in the country have been hit with storm alerts.
With the weather in Ireland not letting up any time soon, despite a brief glimpse of Spring we all saw last weekend, many people are probably looking to get out of the country for a bit of R&R in the sun.
However, if you’re planning to head to Spain in the coming days, you might want to look away now — as several regions in the country that are popular with tourists are under a DANA storm alerts, which will bring rain and snow.

Five regions in Spain are under official weather warnings, including Andalusia — which is under an orange alert for snowfall in Granada — and Murcia, which are also under rain and snow warnings.
Castilla-La Mancha is also under a snow alert in eastern areas, while Alicante are also under heavy rainfall warnings.
Things are looking bleak out in the Canary Islands, also, with the popular islands being under a yellow warning for strong winds and rough seas, while in the Balearic Islands — which include Mallorca — being under heavy rain warnings.

Murcia Today have said that the warnings come under the DANA phenomenon (Depresíon Aislada en Niveles Altos), which is an upper-level isolated atmospheric depression.
Usually occurring in the autumn, convective storms that are created by cold air in the upper layers of the Earth’s atmosphere combine with warm winds from the Mediterranean Sea, which in turn causes the conditions that are bizarrely stormy for what’s usually a sunny region.
The weather is expected to move off the regions by Wednesday, and is hoping to ease off by Thursday — with Spain’s meteorological services advising citizens in the region to check the latest weather advice before travelling and follow the advice of local authorities.

Meanwhile in Ireland, Met Éireann has issued yellow wind warnings for three counties in the west, and has said that temperatures are set to plummet to freezing toward the end of the week.
