CCPC issues urgent children's product recalls over strangulation, choking and burns risks

Several children's products have been withdrawn in recent days by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC).DONE BY DEER is conducting a recall of the Gourde Tiny Farm Children's Water Bottle owing to a strangulation risk. According to a statement on the CCPC website: "The risk reported to the CCPC is strangulation. The buckle on the bottle's lid can open, resulting in a loose strap that could wrap around a child's neck and create a strangulation hazard."The brand is DONE BY DEER. The batch number is 126500824. The model numbers are 1056381 and 1056392. The bar codes are 5712643055648 and 5712643055679. There are approximately 18 affected products in the Republic of Ireland. The product was sold by retailer Bella Baby in Fota Co. Cork, Pembroke Square Co. Dublin, Oranmore Co. Galway and online at www.bellababy.ie."Consumers should cease using the product straight away and ensure it is kept away from children.Those affected can return the item to their point of purchase for a complete refund or replacement where appropriate. The CCPC has also raised safety concerns about a rabbit plush toy sold on the Joom platform, reports RSVP Live.They issued a warning: "The toy potentially presents a choking risk as the eyes and head may detach from the plush toy. A young child may place the eyes or the exposed inside material in their mouth and choke. The toy does not bear the required CE marking, and it has not been demonstrated to the CCPC that the Rabbit plush toy has been tested to the relevant safety standards".The identifiers for this product, found on its packaging, are SY1121Zbl and FJ673962D2D92E.Approximately 7 units of this product have been sold online via the Joom platform to customers in the Republic of Ireland.They further advised: "If you purchased one of these products, please discontinue use immediately and keep it out of the reach of children. You may wish to contact Joom to see if there are any remedies available to you. This can be done via your user account on Joom."Lastly, a recall was announced for a children's fancy dress costume sold on TEMU."The risk reported to the CCPC is that of burns and fire. The costume may catch fire if worn close to an ignition source, resulting in burns," another statement read. "The type/number of models is 2409 Black+purple-100. The batch number is 008.
