Ditch the January Blues with these must-watch Netflix releases
Christmas is 100% over now, and we’re in the throws of the January blues.
It’s at the point of the month, where many of us are already feeling burnout from trying to be the best version of ourselves (slow and steady wins the race, lads).
While a string of weather warnings has hit various parts of Ireland in recent weeks, and the weather has been generally drab and dreary to kickstart the year, there is still plenty to get stuck into on our favourite streaming services to cure those blues.

Over the weekend, a number of new shows and movies hit Netflix and there is even more to come with the fourth season of Bridgerton set to hit the streaming giant at the end of the month.
For now, here’s a look at some of the best Netflix has to offer to hopefully get you out of that January slump!
RUN AWAY
Harlan Coban’s latest TV adaptation follows Simon Greene (James Nesbitt) whose daughter Paige goes missing As the anxious father searches for his daughter, he unveils a string of shocking truths about the secret life she leads.
Simon pairs up with private investigator Elena Ravenscroft (Ruth Jones) to try and uncover the mystery behind Paige’s disapperance.
With eight episodes, this mini-series is the perfect bingeable show and is guaranteed to keep you at the edge of your seat.

HIS & HERS
Keeping in line with the thriller book adaptations, His & Hers is also receiving rave reviews after it hit Netflix last week.
This six-part series, based on the Alice Feeney book of the same name, sees estranged spouses journalist Anna and detective Jack come together to get to the bottom of the murder of a woman in Anna’s hometown of Dahlonega.
Both Anna and Jack think the other has committed the crime, with the series following the couple as they vy for the truth of what really happened.

THE GOOD DOCTOR
If a short mini-series isn’t exactly what you’re looking for, The Good Doctor has also landed on Netflix in recent days, and with up to 20 episodes per season and seven seasons in total, it’s the best excuse to avoid the doom and gloom of January weather.
First airing in 2017, the American medical drama follows the story of Dr Shaun Murphy, who is a young surgical redsident with autism.
Starring former child star Freddie Highmore, The Good Doctor currently remains in the Top 10 trending charts on Netflix, with the show receiving a new lease of life following its addition to the streaming service.
PEOPLE WE MEET ON VACATION (MOVIE)

From book to TV series adaptations, to book to movie adaptations, another addition to the Netflix roster is People We Meet on Vacation, a new movie which has been adapted from the Emily Henry book of — you guessed it — the same name.
Starring Emily Bader and Tom Blyth, the two-hour film has been branded the ‘When Harry Met Sally for the Netflix era’ by The Times.
Best pals Poppy and Alex take an annual summer trip, and have been doing so for a decade. That is, until one disastrous holiday jeopardises their arrangement.
Fast forward to present day, and the once-besties reunite in an attempt to resolve their issues and get back on track.
THE LOST DAUGHTER (MOVIE)
With all the (well-deserved) hype Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal are receiving following their performances in Hamnet, why not take a look at their first movie outing together?
The 2021 psychological drama was directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal in her feature directorial debut, and stars Olivia Colman and Dakota Johnson alongside our own Irish stars.
Leda Caruso (Colman) is on holiday when she meets young mother Nina (Johnson) who has lost her child. Leda helps her find the youngster, but the event leads her to remember her own time as a young mother and the trials and tribulations that come with it.
