Lidl Trolley Dash raises €272,000 for Family Carers Ireland
Lidl Ireland has announced that its annual Christmas charity drive has raised €272,060 for its charity partner, Family Carers Ireland.
The annual Trolley Dash offers customers the chance to win a Supermarket Sweep-style two-minute dash around the store to fill their trolleys with free groceries.
Tens of thousands of shoppers purchased tickets throughout November, and there were 190 winners chosen, one for for every Lidl store in the country, each of whom completed their trolley dash last Saturday (6 December).
All proceeds go to Family Carers Ireland, the national organisation supporting over 500,000 family carers across the country.
Eimear O’Sullivan, corporate affairs director at Lidl Ireland, said: “We are absolutely delighted by the overwhelming generosity of our customers this year.
“The Lidl Trolley Dash is a much-loved festive tradition, and to see a total of €272,060 raised is simply incredible.
“100% of these crucial funds will directly support the vital work of Family Carers Ireland, making a tangible difference to carers and their families right across the country.
“On behalf of Lidl, I want to thank everyone who purchased a ticket and supported this essential campaign.”
Catherine Cox, head of communications and policy at Family Carers Ireland, commented: “The support from Lidl customers through the Trolley Dash has been phenomenal.
“This incredible donation is more than just a number – it will help deliver vital supports and services to family carers across Ireland, who give so much in caring for their loved ones.
