'We're sorry.' McDonald's launches investigation after schoolgirl makes 'disgusting' discovery on burger
A McDonald's spokesperson apologised, saying: "We have fallen short of the high standards we set ourselves" (Image: Getty Images)A schoolgirl said she will "never buy a McDonald's again" after she found what she believes to be mould on a burger.John Cooney's 16-year-old daughter ordered a chicken burger from the Rice Lane restaurant in Walton in Liverpool on Wednesday, October 22.She ordered the food through the McDonald's delivery app after the breakfast menu had ended at around 11.30am. However when it arrived shortly after, John said she found the burger bun had a speckle of "green mould" on top, reports The Liverpool ECHO.John shared pictures with the ECHO of the burger, which show a speckle of green on the burger bun. He complained to McDonald's on behalf of his daughter and was offered a replacement meal. A McDonald's spokesperson has also apologised to the customer.The teenager found mould on top of her burger bun(Image: John Cooney)However, he told the ECHO his daughter refused the replacement and has vowed to "never eat a McDonald's again".He said: "She didn't want another meal, it's disgusting. It was a £15 order (approximately €17) with delivery, it's not good enough. She is already fussy about food as it is."A McDonald's spokesperson said: "Food safety is of the utmost importance to us, and we place strong emphasis on quality control, following rigorous standards to prevent any imperfections.
