Heartbreaking Garda update as body found after three week search for missing Galway man
Martin WardThe search for a man missing from Co Galway for nearly weeks has been stood down following the discovery of a body, gardai have confirmed.Martin Ward, 48, had been missing from Tuam since Monday, October 6.Gardai launched a public appeal shortly after his disappearance, describing Martin as approximately 6'3" with a big build.They added that both gardai and Ray's family were "concerned for his wellbeing".Last week, Gardai renewed their appeal in the hopes that a member of the public could help them locate the missing 48-year-old.The local community in Tuam came together to organise a major search for Martin, with his loved ones saying at the time that they were “extremely concerned and just want to know that he’s safe”.In a sad update on Thursday, gardai confirmed that the missing persons appeal has been stood down following the discovery of a man's body as they thanked the public for their help.Martin Ward has been missing from Tuam, Co. Galway, since Monday October 6A Garda spokesperson said: "Following the discovery of a man’s body, the missing person appeal for Martin Ward (48), who was reported missing from Tuam, Co. Our deepest and most heartfelt sympathies go out to Martin’s family and friends at this devastating time."Words cannot express how truly sorry we are for their loss. The entire community stands with them in grief and in love."We would also like to acknowledge the extraordinary kindness and effort shown by all the volunteers, the Tuam Gardaí, and everyone who gave their time and support over the past weeks.
