‘READY TO SACRIFICE’: Saudi Troops Warned Amid Houthi Attacks; MBS 'Begs' Turkey, Pakistan For Help

Saudi Arabia is preparing for a potentially wider confrontation with the Iran-aligned Houthis as attacks on the kingdom intensify. Saudi Grand Mufti Sheikh Saleh bin Fawzan Al-Fawzan has called on troops stationed along the kingdom’s borders to be prepared to sacrifice their lives fighting the Houthis until the group is ousted from power. The warning comes as Saudi-backed Yemeni forces face pressure on the ground, while Houthi missile and drone attacks have targeted Saudi territory. Riyadh is also turning to its regional defence partners. Saudi, Turkish and Pakistani military chiefs are preparing to meet to discuss support under the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement, signed in August. The pact states that an attack on one of the three parties is to be treated as an attack on all three. However, the agreement does not automatically mean Turkish or Pakistani forces will enter the Yemen battlefield. Discussions are expected to focus on military coordination and possible support for Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, footage released by Houthi military media appears to show Saudi-backed military vehicles being hit and catching fire, although the location, timing and extent of the damage have not been independently verified.
