Five urns. Mystery chemicals. A 55-gallon drum connected to water lines. More than a million digital files. The Philadelphia missing women investigation centers on the Olney home shared by Raymond “R.C.” Horsch and his son, Eugene Horsch.
We’re examining the Eugene Horsch case, Philadelphia police briefings and the FBI investigation into evidence recovered from 417 West Chew Avenue. Police say five women appear lifeless or deceased in the material. Seven women are linked to the broader inquiry, but the 58 identified people are not a confirmed victim count.
What do investigators know about the urns and ashes? Police believe three contain the remains of R.C., his sister and a friend. Two remain unidentified. None have been publicly identified as containing the missing women’s ashes.
Investigators removed sewer piping and sent containers of unknown material for testing. No public laboratory finding has established that the chemicals were used to dissolve human remains. No bodies of the women have been recovered.
R.C. died in 2025. Eugene remains in federal custody on firearm and false-document charges. The investigation has not established that father and son were serial killers, and no homicide charges have been announced in the reporting reviewed.
With roughly 30% of the digital evidence reviewed as of September 16, the Olney house investigation still has major unanswered questions.
