Europe Websites Go Dark After Major Cybersecurity Flaw Sparks Hacker Warning
A major cybersecurity warning has forced government websites, hospitals and businesses across Europe to temporarily take services offline. The threat stems from a security vulnerability linked to PHP, a programming language widely used to power websites and platforms including WordPress.
Germany’s cybersecurity authorities issued an urgent warning, with concerns that attackers could potentially gain remote access to vulnerable systems, steal sensitive data or take control of websites. Services were also disrupted in France, Belgium and the Netherlands. Security updates have now been released, but the incident raises a bigger question: how vulnerable is Europe’s increasingly interconnected digital infrastructure?
