If you’re a Pokemon TCG fan, this one’s for you. The Pokemon Company has recently announced a new initiative titled ‘Game On!’ that will run in Southeast Asia and Hong Kong.
Game On! doesn’t necessarily introduce new events (at least not right now), but what it does do is fold all the existing events under one umbrella to make them more accessible.
This entails categorising each Pokemon TCG event under specific difficulties – the New Trainer Journey, for example, is listed ‘For Beginners’, while events like the Ultra Ball and Master Ball Leagues are categorised as ‘Competitive Play’. ‘Casual Play’ events, like Pokemon TCG Gym, sit between them.
Information about these events, as well as their categories, can also be found under the centralised event hub on the Pokemon TCG website here. You can also expect promo products, consisting of a Pikachu promo card and a sticker, to be distributed at official TCG events including Gym Store events and the Asia Championship Series.

Speaking of which, Game On! launches just before the start of the 2026-27 Pokemon Asia Championship Series. The series is set to begin on 1 September, with registrations for the Great Ball and Premier Ball League open now.
The Great Ball League is the smaller of the two events, and entails local tournaments happening in multiple neighbourhoods across Singapore, including Serangoon, Toa Payoh, Ang Mo Kio, Hougang and Choa Chu Kang. Top performers get priority registration for the next tier, the Ultra Ball League.
The Premier Ball League, in turn, is a large-scale event that only happens once a year. Top performers in this league will also get priority registration for the Master Ball League, the highest-tier tournament in the Asia Championship, and an invite to the Pokemon TCG World Championship. It’s also possible to get a travel invite via the Great Ball League, but this involves a more complicated LP points system that requires you to play more than one event.
The Premier Ball League is split into Junior, Senior and Masters divisions, while the Great Ball League is open to all ages. Information and registrations for the Premier Ball League TCG can be found here, and the registrations and locations for the Great Ball League TCG events here.
