Since the Made by Google event is just around the corner, leaks surrounding the company’s next-generation hardware continue to gather pace. Following the recent reveal of the Pixel 11 series’ specifications and pricing, the spotlight has now shifted to the upcoming Pixel Watch 5.
Purported marketing materials obtained ahead of the launch appear to reveal the smartwatch’s headline features. A major focus of the Pixel Watch 5 appears to be deeper integration with Gemini. According to the leaked promotional material, Google is positioning Gemini as an intelligent assistant that can anticipate your needs, surface helpful information proactively, and provide contextual assistance throughout the day, all from your wrist.
Health tracking also appears to receive a significant upgrade. Building on existing heart-rate monitoring capabilities, the Pixel Watch 5 is reportedly capable of detecting an absent pulse and will automatically notify emergency contacts or emergency services if required.
Sleep tracking is also said to be Google’s most accurate yet. Users can expect a more comprehensive analysis of each sleep stage, breathing rate, and overnight trends. The watch will also generate a personalised Sleep Score to help users better understand their sleep quality and overall recovery – not unlike the Apple Watch.
The Pixel Watch 5 is said to feature a 320ppi LTPO AMOLED display protected by custom 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Under the hood, the smartwatch is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 platform, paired with 64GB of onboard storage.
Other rumoured features include Satellite SOS support with two years of complimentary service, and IP68 dust and water resistance. The Pixel Watch 5 will come in two sizes (41 and 45mm), and four case finishes (matte black, polished silver, satin pyrite, and champagne gold).
Google is expected to unveil the Pixel Watch 5 alongside the Pixel 11 series at its Made by Google event on 12 August, 6 pm ET in New York City.
