Tyrone announce Belfast’s Chris McDonnell as new senior hurling manager
Chris McDonnell has been appointed as the new Tyrone senior hurling manager.The Belfast man has been a member of the backroom team under Stephen McGarry for the past few seasons, and takes over the top job following McGarry’s decision to step down after three years in the post.McDonnell is regarded as one of the game’s up and coming strategists, and managed Antrim club Rossa last season.Read more: ‘The last time I experienced that noise was in 2003’: Paddy Tally on Mayo’s historic All-Ireland triumph“Tyrone GAA are delighted to announce the appointment of Christopher McDonnell as the new Tyrone Senior Hurling Manager. Christopher has been appointed to a three-year term, subject to ratification by the County Committee at its meeting on Tuesday evening,” said a statement from the county boad.“Tyrone GAA would like to congratulate Christopher on his appointment and wish him every success as he begins this important role.“We look forward to working with him and his management team as they prepare for the season ahead and continue the development of hurling across the county.”Under McGarry, Tyrone reached the highest level the county has ever played at, Division 2B of the NHL, and contested this year’s Nickey Rackard Cup final.
