Five acts will compete in the final of Rhythm of Bhutan on August 11, vying to represent their nation at the Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026.
BBS has today revealed its national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026, with five acts competing to represent Bhutan in Bangkok, Thailand this November. Rhythm of Bhutan, which will take place on August 11 will see the winner compete in the final of the first edition of the Eurovision Song Contest Asia. The five competing acts are:
The Sangay Lhaden Band
Baeyul 301
Karma Drupchu
Thukten Nyendra
Pelden Wangchuk
All of the five acts competed in Druk Dra last year, with four of them making it through to the final. Druk Dra was organised by BBS to select a representative for Eurovision Asia and the ABU Song Festival, but was ultimately cancelled, as Eurovision Asia had not been formally confirmed as taking place.
Tshering Dorji, the deputy chairperson of the Internal Organising Committee for the Eurovision Song Contest Asia, commented:
“Bhutan is unique in its music, songs, traditional attire and rich culture. Today, our artists are also bringing fresh creativity that can stand alongside the rest of the world. This platform allows us to showcase Bhutanese music, our language and our cultural identity to an international audience,”
The Bhutanese Government, through the Department of Media Creative Industry & Intellectual Property, is providing financial support for Rhythm of Bhutan.
Eurovision Song Contest Asia
The first Eurovision Song Contest Asia will be held on November 14 in Bangkok, Thailand. Like the Eurovision Song Contest, each country’s participation is organised by a participating broadcaster. Each participating broadcaster is expected to select its entry through holding a national final in their country.
The format of the national selections will be revealed in the coming months, with some countries opting to hold multi-week selections.
The rules of the contest will match those of the Eurovision Song Contest, meaning that a song must not exceed 3 minutes in length and no more than 6 people can be on stage. The winner will be determined by 50% televoting and 50% jury voting.
