Alpha Trains and Talbot seek a more strategic approach to rolling stock lifecycles

GERMANY: Leasing company Alpha Trains and engineering company Talbot Services have announced a long-term strategic framework agreement which aims to pool train fleets and make better use of workshop capacity to provide operators with more commercially attractive options for rolling stock maintenance, modernisation and overhauls.

Alpha Trains has secured dedicated capacity at Talbot’s Aachen site for a range of services including overhauls, exterior repainting, redesign work and ETCS retrofitting.

It also strengthens its ability to offer integrated leasing and maintenance services, with overhauls and modernisation planned at an early stage so that rolling stock can be prepared for future deployment and economically attractive leasing models developed throughout the lifecycle.

Talbot Services benefits from a reliable workload enabling more strategic planning of resources and investments.

‘With this co-operation agreement, we are elevating our long-standing partnership with Talbot to a new strategic level’, said Bernhard Holzer, Managing Director of Alpha Trains Europa, on July 23. ‘We are creating genuine added value for our customers: greater planning certainty, short response times and economically attractive solutions throughout the vehicle lifecycle.’
