Man arrested after being caught drunkenly wandering Dublin street waving loaded pistol

Gardai are questioning a man after he was arrested drunkenly waving a gun around as he walked along a street.The Irish Mirror has confirmed the Chinese national was arrested after he was confronted by gardai in south central Dublin late on Tuesday night. Sources have revealed that he was walking through Inchicore waving a gun when he was arrested at around 11.30pm.Officers seized the firearm - and arrested the suspect. It has been established that the firearm was a Glock semi-automatic pistol - and it was fully loaded.The suspect, who is in his 30s, is being held at a south Dublin Garda Station and can be detained for up to three days. Detectives are now trying to establish how he got the pistol.One source said: "The fella was drunk and was wandering about the place waving the gun."It was quite bizarre. Nobody knows what he was up to. They don't think he was planning a hit - he was just drunk."Gardai confirmed the arrest in a statement to the Irish Mirror.A spokesman for the force said: "Gardaí on patrol attended the scene of Tyrconnell Road, Inchicore, Dublin 8 on Thursday 9th June 2026 shortly after 11:30pm. Gardaí arrested an adult male (aged in his 30s) who was in possession of a firearm."The adult male is currently detained under Section 30, Offences Against State Act, 1939 at a Garda Station in the Dublin Metropolitan Region.
