After launching the attack on Iran in February, Donald Trump recently paused the latest US military operation escorting ships through the Strait of Hormuz. Last week, Iran launched four missiles at the US-backed Middle Eastern ally, the UAE, and blew up a major oil port, following Trump’s move to reopen the strait. Trump declared on Truth Social a couple of days later that he was pausing operations after a request by Pakistan, which has acted as a mediator between the US and Iran. The US president said that he made the decision because ‘Great Progress has been made toward a Complete and Final Agreement’ with Tehran.
