CSG expands UK footprint with Resource Chemicals acquisitions
Irish-owned chemical solutions firm Chemical Solutions Group (CSG) has acquired the UK chemical distribution specialist Resource Chemicals.
The transaction marks a further step in CSG's long-term strategy to build a "sustainable and meaningful" presence in the UK market. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
CSG has a broader plan to develop a stronger, more capable UK platform through targeted investment and acquisitions that enhance supply resilience, technical capability and customer service across industrial, water and environmental markets.
The company has already invested in UK infrastructure through GI Chemical Solutions and its Immingham base.
The latest acquisition reinforces its ambition to establish a full-service, long-term presence in the UK rather than pursuing one-off transactions.
In January, CSG announced its intention to acquire Celtic Water Care Solutions Ltd, a Cork-based wastewater and effluent treatment chemicals specialist serving private-sector customers across Ireland.
The deal is pending clearance by the Competition & Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC).
These recent transactions support CSG’s long-term growth strategy, bringing annualised group revenue to more than €100m.
The group is targeting revenues of €150m by 2030. This growth is underpinned by ongoing multi-million-euro investment at its sites in Shannon and Foynes.
CSG is the parent company of Chemifloc, GI Chemicals Ireland, GI Chemical Solutions UK and Chemilab.
The group currently employs 100 people and brings more than 40 years of specialist chemistry expertise across potable water, wastewater, environmental and hygiene applications, operating across Ireland and the UK.
“In 2025 we launched a distribution hub in the UK specialising in bulk chemicals, namely caustic, through our GI Chemicals brand," said Kevin Quinn, CEO of CSG.
"This was always a first step, and our long-term ambition is to build a meaningful presence in the UK and to continue to expand across Ireland, offering customers a full suite of services and products.
"Resource Chemicals is a well-respected brand in the UK market and by working together we can deliver on the significant opportunity for our solutions within the UK.
"Their product portfolio dovetails very well with CSG, and they are active in our target segments - water, environment and hygiene.”
Resource Chemicals is an established UK platform with sales of €29m, more than 200 customer relationships and expertise across bulk distribution and smaller-pack supply.
CSG believes the acquisition will create a stronger proposition for customers by combining local market knowledge and technical service with greater scale, purchasing strength and continuity of supply.
The acquisition will have no impact on CSG's customers or distributors.
GI Chemical Solutions and Resource Chemicals will operate as two separate entities, reflecting CSG’s UK growth strategy and mirroring its successful multi-brand model in Ireland, which has been in place for over 40 years.
“Customers will benefit from a stronger, more resilient partner and a business committed to long-term market development and competitiveness," Quinn said.
"As a complete service provider with a significant footprint, customers will also gain access to the full range of Group capabilities, including R&D, SHEQ expertise and leadership in sustainability.”
All Resource Chemicals, including senior management, will remain with the business following completion of the deal.
CSG will work closely with them to continue developing Resource Chemicals in the UK, with continuity of customer service and supplier relationships a key priority.
“This is an exciting next chapter for Resource Chemicals. CSG shares our values, our customer focus and our commitment to quality and service," said Nicola Bradley, managing director of Resource Chemicals.

"Becoming part of the Group gives us the scale and support to grow the business further, while maintaining the relationships and standards that our customers rely on.
"We’re looking forward to working together to build on what we’ve achieved and to play a key role in CSG’s long-term UK strategy.”
