How much Liam Rosenior will be paid to leave Chelsea after 3 months
Chelsea have sacked manager Liam Rosenior three months in charge after the Premier League club suffered their fifth consecutive Premier League defeat.
The 41-year-old replaced Enzo Maresca in January, but he leaves Stamford Bridge after just 107 days in charge following a 3-0 loss to Brighton on Tuesday.
In failing to score for five successive matches, Chelsea cemented their longest scoreless run since 1912. Rosenior himself faced angry chants from the travelling support and described the performance as "indefensible" and "unacceptable".
Prior to joining the west London club, Rosenior managed Strasbourg in France, also owned by BlueCo, the investment group led by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital that took over Chelsea in 2022.
Rosenior signed a six-and-a-half year contract believed to be worth £4m per season, and club ownership had resolved to stick with him next season until results turned for the worse in recent weeks.
"Liam has always conducted himself with the highest integrity and professionalism following his appointment midway through the season," Chelsea said in a statement.
"This has not been a decision the club has taken lightly, however recent results and performances have fallen below the necessary standards with still so much more to play for this season."
Since being catapulted into English football's elite by Roman Abramovich's 2003 takeover, Chelsea have employed 17 full-time managers, with Jose Mourinho, Guus Hiddink and Frank Lampard taking the reins multiple times. Since BlueCo took over, the club has had five managers in four years.
Chelsea's willingness to chop and change has resulted in a number of significant compensation bills over the years. When he was dismissed in 2018, Antonio Conte and his staff are reported to have been paid £26m, outstripping the £23m received by Mourinho and his team when they were first fired in 2007.
Under BlueCo, managers Thomas Tuchel (£15m), Graham Potter (£13m) and Mauricio Pochettino (£10m) also received eight-figure pay-outs while Maresca waived any payment when he stepped down.
Rosenior's contract still had £24m outstanding, but it is understood that a break clause in his deal will mean that he'll receive a year's salary (£4m) in compensation.

In all, he took charge of 22 matches, winning 11, drawing two and losing 10, including his last five.
Calum McFarlane has been put in charge for the rest of the season for his second interim stint of 2025/26, and he will be on the touchline for the club's FA Cup semi-final versus Leeds this weekend.
