'Simplest' daily task keeps homes fresh without any products
Homeowners are being urged to complete one simple task that will leave their properties "feeling cleaner".Spring presents an ideal opportunity to tackle household cleaning, especially as the extended daylight hours tend to reveal more dust and dirt.Additionally, many households will be hosting relatives and friends throughout the Easter weekend and half-term holidays. Yet staying on top of everything can prove quite challenging.Cleaning specialist Lynsey Crombie has shared one straightforward method that can significantly speed up home tidying. She describes it as among the "simplest" and "most effective" approaches to immediately refresh a living space. Her recommendation is to simply open your windows. While the suggestion may appear almost too basic, Lynsey explained: "Honestly, one of the simplest (and most effective) cleaning tips is just opening your windows."Fresh air instantly lifts your home, helps remove stale smells, reduces moisture and makes everything feel cleaner in seconds - no products needed", reports the Irish Mirror.Lynsey posted her advice on her Queen of Clean social media platforms, with many followers responding to confirm they had already implemented her suggestion, reports the Mirror. One commented: "I'm so happy now that it's mild enough to do this! Also my kids have been playing in the garden loads and just leaving the back door wide open so there's that." Another user chimed in: "I love fresh air through the house." A further commenter wrote: "Love opening windows it's free and allows fresh air in and any negativity out x." While a fourth simply stated: "You just can't beat it xx."Beyond keeping homes feeling clean and refreshed, opening windows can also prove a highly effective remedy for condensation. While the problem is far more common during the winter months, some spring mornings can still bring a noticeable chill. The issue arises from the temperature contrast between the warmth inside your home and the cold air outside. Condensation can equally be a problem in steamy bathrooms and during cooking.Taking to the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook page, Lisa Stewart shared: "When cleaning clients' houses, I see lots of homes that struggle with condensation. Ventilation is the only way to get rid of it."She continued: "Open your window for 15 minutes every morning. It works wonders for putting an end to window condensation and even mould."Specialists recommend throwing open the windows after rainfall, following a shower, or while cooking, allowing air to circulate freely and disperse any excess moisture that has accumulated within the home.Want to see more of the stories you love from Dublin Live?
