Hoover, Typewriter, Live Rabbit Among Items Left On Dublin Bus

New figures show forgetting your wallet or phone on the bus is actually pretty common. Dublin Bus passengers left more than 29,000 items behind them in the last year. The company has a dedicated lost property office at Earl Place to help reunite people with their possessions.  On average, around 2,500 items are forgotten on the seats or floors of Dublin Bus vehicles every month. In March 342 travel or LEAP cards, 331 wallets and purses, 172 phones and 101 keys were picked up by staff. Some of the more unusual items found last month included a typewriter, a wooden stool, an old hoover in a plastic bag, rosary beads and a mini weighing scales. Over the years staff say dentures, engagement rings, thousands of euro in cash and even a live rabbit have been left behind. The team will hold on to items for 30 days. Only about a third of everything that is found is claimed, with the majority donated to charity.
