DHEISHEH REFUGEE CAMP: The Palestinian Health Ministry said on Saturday that Israeli forces shot dead a teenager in the occupied West Bank, while the military said troops had fired in response to a threat.The Ramallah-based Health Ministry identified the 15-year-old as Adham Sayed Saleh Dahman, who died of “serious wounds caused by Israeli forces’ gunfire,” Palestinian news agency Wafa reported.Wafa said he was killed during a military operation on Friday evening in the Al-Dheisheh camp, south of Bethlehem.Dahman was shot in the abdomen, the report said, noting that another Palestinian was also wounded in the incident.The military claimed troops were operating in the Bethlehem area when a “violent riot developed,” involving stone-throwing at its soldiers.The troops “responded with riot dispersal means, including live fire, in response to the threat,” the military said, confirming that one Palestinian was killed and another wounded.Violence in the West Bank, a Palestinian territory occupied by Israel since 1967, has surged since the Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel, which triggered the war in Gaza.According to an AFP tally based on figures from the Palestinian Health Ministry, at least 1,054 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli soldiers or settlers in the West Bank since the start of the Gaza war.In continuing violence, a Palestinian man was killed, and others were wounded on Saturday in an Israeli airstrike targeting a civilian vehicle east of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.A medical source at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis reported that the body of a slain Palestinian and several casualties were admitted to the hospital following an Israeli drone strike on a vehicle near the Bani Suheila roundabout, east of Khan Younis.Israeli settlers on Saturday attacked Palestinian property in the Al-Mukaybirah area of Mikhmas village, northeast of occupied Jerusalem.Jerusalem governorate reported that dozens of settlers attacked the Al-Mukaybirah area on the outskirts of Mikhmas village and vandalized Palestinian property.Mikhmas village and nearby Bedouin communities are subjected to frequent attacks by settlers, under the protection of the Israeli army. These attacks have included assaults on residents, as well as the destruction and burning of homes, animal shelters, and vehicles, in addition to the sabotage and theft of solar panels and surveillance cameras.AFP – WAFA
