Ireland weather: Widespread rain forecast by Met Eireann as miserable conditions return
Unsettled weather with widespread rain is forecast over the coming daysWidespread rain has been forecast by Met Eireann this week as miserable weather conditions return.Today will be a little chilly and rather cloudy this morning but it is largely dry. A touch more cloud will build form the northwest later this morning with some patchy light rain or drizzle following in across Connacht and Ulster later this afternoon. It will be dry elsewhere with southwesterly breezes and highs of 9 to 13 degrees.Tonight will be cloudy and a little breezy too. Patchy rain or drizzle will drift in over the western half of the country but staying mostly dry across Leinster. It will be mild too with lowest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees and some mist or fog patches forming overnight also.It will turn a little more unsettled tomorrow with overcast skies and rain spreading throughout. The rain will be heavy and persistent for a time in the afternoon. Later then rain will be followed by sunny spells and showers as southwesterly winds change westerly, strong and gusty at times too. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees are forecast.Here is Met Eireann's national outlook for the coming days:Overview"Mixed overall with spells of rain or showers but temperatures staying around average."Tuesday Night"Staying rather wet and unsettled with showers widespread throughout and fresh to strong northwesterly winds. Some of the showers may turn wintry, especially on higher ground with lowest temperatures of 1 to 4 degrees."Wednesday"Another wet and blustery day with showers becoming widespread, again possibly turning wintry on higher ground with a fresh and gusty northwesterly breeze. Some isolated sunny spells developing later with highest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees."Wednesday Night"Showers will gradually ease during the evening with some clear spells developing later in the night. Northwesterly breezes will ease too with lowest temperatures of 1 to 4 degrees."Thursday"A cold start generally but some good sunny spells will develop in the morning with just a light breeze. Staying dry but becoming cloudier later in the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 7 to 9 degrees."Friday"Indications suggest another unsettled day with rain moving over the country, possibly turning heavy at times too.
