Bukayo Saka worry raised by Liverpool legend after Arsenal’s win over Everton

Bukayo Saka’s form is under the spotlight after he underwhelmed in Arsenal’s crucial Premier League win over Everton.
The Gunners looked set to drop two points at home to Everton as Saturday’s game remained goalless heading into the final few minutes.
But teenage sensation Max Dowman made a huge impact from the bench, first playing a role in Viktor Gyokeres’ opener and then sealing the three points with an injury-time goal, making him the youngest Premier League goalscorer in history.
The late win sent Arsenal ten points clear of title rivals Manchester City and Pep Guardiola’s side were only able to draw 1-1 at West Ham later in the day.
Saka has been surprisingly quiet for Arsenal in recent months, scoring just two goals since early December, and was upstaged by 16-year-old Dowman against Everton.
The England star was subbed off during Arsenal’s Champions League knockout game against Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday night.
Liverpool legend Steve Nicol is alarmed by Saka’s frustrating spell, insisting he is ‘absolutely struggling’.

‘Arsenal’s front-three today… I mean again Bukayo Saka is struggling, he’s absolutely struggling for form,’ he said on ESPN.
Fellow forward Liverpool star Don Hutchison, meanwhile, has ‘wondered’ if Saka is ‘shattered’ given the volume of football he has played at his young age or has been ‘over-coached’.
‘Mikel Arteta said he had a gut feeling about Max Dowman and he’s basically saying he’s coached the life out of Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke and this kid hasn’t had any coaching yet so he just went out there and played,’ Hutchinson said.

‘Just on Bukayo Saka, he’s been out of form and this kid at 24 has played over 300 games.
‘So you just start to wonder, with a few injuries along the way, is he feeling a little bit shattered or is it over-coaching because Max Dowman came on and just lit up the place, he was magnificent.’
Meanwhile, Arteta beamed about the ‘amazing’ finish to Arsenal’s win over Everton and praised Dowman for his incredible impact.

‘It was amazing, it was one of those moments that I think we’re going to remember for a long, long time,’ Arteta said.
‘I really enjoyed the relentless desire of the team, action by action, to put everything that we had in to earn the right to win the game.
‘And obviously, the manner in which it happened in the last few minutes, all the celebration, the atmosphere, the energy, the goal from Max, it made it such a special night.

‘For many years, we will remember that we were at the Emirates that night when that 16-year-old kid scored in such an important game when we were trying to win the title.
‘To achieve what he’s done in the context of the game which he’s done it in as well, I think it makes it even more special.
‘I’m really happy for him. I think he deserves it. His family, and all the people at Hale End have raised him in such an incredible way.
‘One thing is to raise a talent, another thing is to raise a person with such a personality and charisma to play a game with that stature in the manner that he’s done it.’
