Will There Be A Season 2 of ‘Scarpetta’?
Scarpetta Season 1 may be over but we’re already starting to think about Season 2. Save us, Nicole Kidman, save us!

With one mystery in the bag and one murderer’s brain bashed in — we love seeing Nicole Kidman get her hands (and her bat!) dirty — we are already looking out at what the next season of this hit crime-drama could look like.
After baiting us by making us fall in love with Dr. Kay Scarpetta (Kidman), Dorothy (Jamie Lee Curtis), Pete Marino (Bobby Cannavale), Benton (Simon Baker), and Lucy (Ariana Debose), Prime Video expects us to wait a whole year or more to see this crew return? And it’s worse because that Season 1 cliffhanger ending has us questioning who is at the door and what’s going to happen to Scarpetta next. Hopefully, it’s Pete and he can help her cover up another murder. So many questions and so little time!

Is Scarpetta Renewed For Season 2?
Great news, Scarpetta fans, the show has already been renewed for a second season! When Prime Video announced that Kidman and crew would be starring in the adaptation of Patricia Cornwell’s bestselling book series, the service announced that the show would be getting a two-season order.
Who Is Returning For Scarpetta Season 2?
As of right now, it sounds like everyone whose characters are still alive will return for the second season, including Kidman, Curtis, Cannavale, Baker and Debose. One person who will most likely not be returning is David Hornsby, who plays Officer Ryan.
Of course, the last scene of Episode 8 sees Dr. Scarpetta bashing in the brains of Officer Ryan after he tried to chase her through her house. Unless flashbacks expose him as the copycat murderer to the entire cast of characters in Season 2, we think he’s probably done on the show.
When Will Scarpetta Season 2 Premiere on Prime Video?
Sadly, we have no release date yet for Scarpetta Season 2. We can only hope that Season 2 comes out within a year or so of Season 1. That said, we do think that due to the busy schedules of the show’s stars, it could be a year and a half to two years before we get another season.

What Books Will Season 2 of Scarpetta Adapt?
While Season 1 of Scarpetta adapted the first book, Postmortem, and the 25th book, Autopsy, it sounds like Season 2 will be the fourth book in the series, Cruel and Unusual, and the fifth book, The Body Farm. According to the LA Times, who spoke with Kidman and her younger counterpart, Rosy McEwen, the next season will tackle two more of the earlier novels.
