Married At First Sight's 'anti-woke' groom Tyson Gordon leaves bride sobbing as he QUITS show after being confronted over gay comments: 'Disgusting thing to say'
Tensions reached an all-time high during Sunday night's explosive episode of Married At First Sight, when groom Tyson Gordon stormed off the set after being confronted over his views. The 'anti-woke' reality TV star, 30, appeared at the fourth Commitment Ceremony with his wife Stephanie Marshall, 32, who told the experts she took issue with his views on gay couples.'I want Tyson to have a bit more awareness of the things he says and the impact it has. Two of my closest friends are gay, and we have Chris and Sam in the experiment,' Stephanie began.'Something that came from Tyson's video interview was, "I'm happy for you guys, be whoever you want to be, but keep it behind closed doors."'Tyson then tried to justify his politically incorrect words to the group – but only made the situation worse.'First of all, I'm not against gay people. I just feel the topic can be pushed on us. I come from a traditional family... I'm not really comfortable with it, I'm just being honest,' Tyson said. Like, the "submissive" thing still rings in my mind. That is what Tyson wants. He wants a wife to sit down, look pretty and not speak unless asked,' Stephanie ranted. She then pointed out an example of his alleged sexism, that Tyson was only speaking to male series expert John Aiken, ignoring his female co-stars Mel Schilling and Alessandra Rampolla. This criticism appeared to be the final straw for the fed-up Tyson, who bluntly said he was done with both Stephanie and the dating experiment - and stormed off set.'I'm not going to take that s**t. I do not disrespect women at all, I have a lot of respect for women. Steph is putting words in my mouth. She's making out that I hate women, which is such a disgusting thing to say,' Tyson ranted.'I do not see a future here with this person. I'm done with this person, done with this bulls**t, done with this experiment. There's nothing here between Steph and I, she's not a traditional wife, in my eyes. I do not like her attitude. There's no fixing this.'I'm just going to bounce. I don't want to be here. I'm finished. See you, guys.' 'I'm not going to take that s**t. As soon as I opened my mouth, he was f***ing gone. I am so disappointed,' Stephanie tearfully said, as her co-stars worked to comfort her. Tyson's shock exit came after two weeks of tension on the show, in which he frequently shocked his co-stars with his outspoken views. Last week, Tyson doubled down on his controversial views, shocking his bride Stephanie and the series experts in the process.Tyson admitted he was at his 'breaking point' because Steph was not the 'submissive type' of woman he was attracted to.'[I'm attracted to] The more easy-going type, who is not constantly talking down to me. When someone is constantly in your face trying to challenge you, it comes across as very domineering. It is masculine in my eyes!' Tyson bluntly said.'[A feminine woman] Is the opposite of Steph. I have felt emasculated. The way I have been raised is traditional values, my dad was the breadwinner and my mum stayed home, raised us kids.'Mel Schilling called Tyson out on his desire to have a 'submissive' woman, claiming that he wanted a partner who catered to his every need, which wasn't something the experts were prepared to provide him with. Married At First Sight continues Monday at 7.30pm on Channel Nine.
