Tesla raises Cybertruck AWD price by $10,000 just days after launch

The increase of roughly 17 per cent took effect on 1 March and follows a limited introductory pricing period announced at the model’s launch on 19 February. At launch, Tesla CEO Elon Musk noted on social media that the $59,990 price would only be available for ten days. During this period, the Cybertruck configurator displayed the limited-time offer while delivery estimates shifted from June 2026 to later windows, including September–October 2026 and, for some configurations, 2027.Following the end of the introductory period, Tesla updated the base price of the trim to $69,990 and removed the leasing option previously listed for the model. While the newly introduced AWD variant might be a better deal than other versions previously offered at that price, some might take issue with the price hike. Shortly after announcing that the entry price would only be available for ten days, Musk added that the new price would depend on demand.“The problem is obvious: by announcing that the price will go up in 10 days, you create urgency that inflates demand. Then you point to that inflated demand to justify the price increase. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy dressed up as market dynamics,” the US portal Electrek writes. And they are not wrong.Nevertheless, the newly introduced Cybertruck AWD represents the lowest-priced configuration of Tesla’s electric pickup currently available. It features a dual-motor drivetrain with all-wheel drive, an estimated range of 325 miles (approximately 523 kilometres), adaptive damping suspension, a powered tonneau cover and bed-mounted power outlets with Powershare vehicle-to-everything (V2X) functionality. The updated pricing places the AWD variant at the same level as the rear-wheel-drive Cybertruck previously offered at $69,990. That configuration was discontinued after several months on sale.Compared with that discontinued model, the current AWD Cybertruck includes a second motor, all-wheel drive capability, adaptive damping suspension and the integrated power supply in the cargo bed. The estimated range of the AWD variant is lower than the roughly 350 miles originally listed for the rear-wheel-drive configuration. As Electrek notes, the current pricing also differs significantly from figures presented when Tesla first unveiled the Cybertruck in November 2019. At that time, the company outlined a dual-motor all-wheel-drive version starting at $49,900 with an estimated range of more than 300 miles, alongside a single-motor rear-wheel-drive version from $39,900 and a tri-motor flagship variant priced at $69,900 with a projected 500-mile range.electrek.co, tesla.com (configurator)
