Anthony Boyle eyeing up biopic role after IFTA win for House of Guinness

Anthony Boyle is already eyeing up his next historical role after picking up an IFTA for his role in House of Guinness. Belfast man Anthony won for Best Lead Actor – Drama at the IFTAs on Friday night, for his critically acclaimed role as Arthur Guinness in House of Guinness, the drama series surrounding the family of Benjamin Guinness following his death. The show won two awards out of seven nominations on Friday night, with Eoin O’Sullivan and David Sewell picking up the award for best VFX. Pic: Michael Chester With Anthony receiving critical acclaim for his role as Arthur Guinness, he is already eyeing up who he could play in his next historical role — and is looking closer to home for a potential new role. ‘I was actually thinking about this last week — [I’d love to play] Van Morrison,’ Anthony told Extra.ie. ‘Van Morrison is my favourite singer of all time. ‘I went and saw him last week — not as a person, just watching him sing — and even at 70-whatever age he is now [80], he has this amazing power in him, and I’d love to play him if there’s ever a biopic.’ Pic: Netflix Anthony was previously nominated for Best Lead Actor – Drama at the IFTAs for his role as Brendan Hughes in Say Nothing, another historical drama about the Troubles and the IRA, before picking up the award for his role as Anthony Guinness. His co-stars Jack Gleeson and Fionn O’Shea were both nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the IFTAs for their roles as Byron Hedges and Benjamin Guinness, while Danielle Galligan was also up for Best Supporting Actress. The show was also nominated for Best Editing, and picked up their second award of the night for VFX. The IFTAs will air on RTÉ One at 10.50pm on Saturday night (February 21).
