Pic: Irish stars turn up in style for 2026 IFTAs red carpet
Stars from across film and television have donned their gladdest of glad rags as the 2026 IFTAs kick off.
The Irish Film and Television Awards are underway at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre, with several A-listers and past and future (hopefully) Oscar winners from these shores heading to the red carpet.

Jessie Buckley is up for Best Lead Actress in a Film for her critically acclaimed role in Hamnet alongside Paul Mescal at the ceremony tonight.

Also up for a gong at the IFTAs is Oscar winner Cillian Murphy.

Cillian’s up for Best Actor for his role as a teacher of troubled youths in Steve.
Leading in the film nominations with 14 nods is Cork drama Christy, which tells the story of a young man leaving the foster system and finding independence, and has earned nominations for debut director Brendan Canty, first-time writer Alan O’Gorman and three first-time acting nominees: Daniel Power, Emma Willis and Jamie Forde.

Saipan, which tells the story that divided the nation of Roy Keane’s departure from the World Cup squad, is up for 12 awards, including for Steve Coogan and Éanna Harwicke, who play Mick McCarthy and Roy Keane, respectively.

Richard Linklater’s Blue Moon, filmed in Ireland and set in 1940s New York, has eight nominations, while Four Mothers, a warm and funny story about family, ageing and obligation, picks up seven nods, including a Lead Actress nomination for Fionnula Flanagan.

Ciarán Hinds will receive the IFTA Lifetime Achievement Award surrounded by his family, friends and industry peers.
Kevin McGahern is hosting the ceremony for the second year in a row.
