Senate passes Multi-Faith Prayer and Quiet Rooms Act on final reading
MANILA, Philippines — The Senate on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 approved on third and final reading Senate Bill No. 1629, a measure that would require the establishment of multi-faith prayer and quiet rooms in public offices and selected public-facing establishments. Sen. Mark Villar, who pushed for the proposal, called the bill a “landmark” step toward promoting religious inclusivity, respect, and harmony, saying it would help ensure Filipinos of different faiths have access to dedicated spaces for prayer and quiet reflection, particularly in high-traffic government and public service settings.
