Nottingham attacks inquiry: What state are UK mental health services in?
A statutory inquiry will open next week into Valdo Calocane, who killed three people and left three others seriously injured in a brutal attack in Nottingham in June 2023.
It will focus on systemic failures of mental health and police services In Nottingham.
But while much attention has focused on the deadly events of that night, this programme can reveal there were 23 similar attacks by severely mentally ill people on complete strangers across the UK in the year before – and a similar number since.
