Controversial US Chain Chick-Fil-A Is Opening in London This Year
Chick-Fil-A already has two sites in Northern Ireland and one on LeedsWe’ve had a fair few fast food brands make their way across the pond and plant their flag in the UK – Shake Shack and Five Guys are beloved by Brits for their burgers and Popeye’s had no problem drawing in the crowds when it opened its first UK spot in Stratford in late 2021. Chick-Fil-A, the third largest quick service restaurant in the US with over 2800 stores, is now joining them in London this year. The chain has already opened three UK locations and Kingston has been selected for site number four (with a Liverpool opening also being eyed up this year). The Kingston branch will serve all the signature Chick-Fil-A items, including its chicken sandwich, nuggets, waffle fries, Chick-Fil-A sauce and iced tea.It won’t be the first time Chick-Fil-A has come to town – it popped up in Finchley for just one day in 2016, and it also opened a location inside Reading’s Oracle shopping centre in 2019 but it didn’t last long, having faced backlash for the company’s history of donating to anti-LGBT organisations and comments opposing same-sex marriage made by the then-CEO. Since the boycotts, which also happened in the US, the biz changed up its charitable focus in 2020, donating to initiatives that work towards supporting youth education and tackling homelessness. Will this expansion attempt be the one that sticks for Chick-Fil-A? Only time will tell.Key InformationOpening date | March 2026Address | 90 Eden St, Kingston upon Thames KT1 1DJFor more information | chick-fil-a.com
