LGFA National League: Donegal beat Tyrone to move clear in Division Two
Donegal continued their perfect start in Division Two of the LGFA National League as they scored a 3-9 to 1-8 win over Ulster rivals Tyrone.Both sides came into the game with two wins from two, but it was Donegal's eye for goal which proved decisive as they are now out on their own at the to of the table.After an early exchange of points, Donegal grabbed heir first goal as Ciara McGarvey took advantage of the 'solo and go' rule to burst through and score.Meabh Mallon and Claire Canavan hit back for the Red Hands, but Donegal responded through Eva Gallagher and enjoyed a good run to half-time to lead 1-6 to 0-4.Tyrone were first to score after the break, but the Donegal response was emphatic as goals from Katie Dowds either side of a Suzie White free opened an 11-point gap.Tyrone grabbed a goal of their own through Niamh O'Neill, but it was not enough to fully revive her side as Donegal took the win.Cavan are now up into second thanks to their 1-11 to 2-6 win over Wexford.Orlaith Byrne gave the visitors a good start with an early goal, but Cavan responded well with three points from Ella Sheridan and two from Niamh Keenaghan in the first half bring them level before Catherine Dolan nudged them 0-7 to 1-3 ahead at the break.Keenaghan found the net nine minutes into the second period but after Byrne pointed for Wexford, the visitors were level with 10 to go when Sherene Hamilton palmed to the net.However, Cavan finished strong with four of the final six scores to stay unbeaten.There is a three-way tie at the top of Division Three with Down, Antrim and Louth all level on seven points.Down were 7-13 to 4-13 winners over Clare, while the Saffrons had to settle for a draw away to Roscommon.Fermanagh are still seeking their first win of the campaign as they suffered a 13-point loss away Louth.Armagh's Division One game against Cork, scheduled to take place in Dromintee on Sunday, was postponed.LGFA National League resultsDivision OneArmagh-P-CorkGalway 3-12 Kildare 1-7Kerry 4-10 Meath 2-12Waterford 1-10 Dublin 0-8Division TwoCavan 1-11 Wexford 2-6Mayo 0-9 Tipperary 0-7Monaghan 1-12 Westmeath 1-6Donegal 3-9 Tyrone 1-8Division ThreeDown 7-13 Clare 4-13Laois 5-15 Limerick 0-7Louth 4-9 Fermanagh 0-8Roscommon 2-8 Antrim 2-8
