Dublin weather: Welcome dry Bank Holiday Monday as Met Eireann update yellow warning
Bank Holiday Monday is set to be a welcome dry day in Dublin after Met Eireann updated their status yellow rain warning for the capital. The national forecaster issued a status yellow rain warning for Dublin to kick off February yesterday, with it set to kick in from 9pm on Monday night until 1pm on Tuesday afternoon. But Met Eireann have now updated the warning, saying that it won't kick in here until 6am tomorrow morning. The warning will now also last until 9pm tomorrow night. Louth and Wicklow are also under the same warning as Dublin.Met Eireann says: "Further heavy rain falling on saturated ground combined with high river levels and high tides will lead to localised flooding, river flooding and difficult travel conditions." Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Cork and Waterford will go under a similar yellow warning at 9pm on Monday until 3pm on Tuesday.Today, therefore, will be cloudy but dry, with top temperatures of 9C and easterly winds increasing moderate to fresh. The wind will be stronger on the coast. It will be cloudy and dry at first tonight as well, before becoming wet later in the night and towards morning with persistent rain which will be heavy at times. It will remain breezy, with lowest temperatures of 5C.And here is what Met Eireann's current forecast for the week ahead says:Overview: Low pressure to the southwest of Ireland will bring further spells rain this week, the most persistent and heaviest of these affecting the south and east of the country. A combination of already saturated ground, high river levels and high tides mean flooding is likely along rivers and in coastal areas.Tuesday: Another cloudy day with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees. Tuesday Night: While it will be cloudy for most with patchy outbreaks of rain and drizzle, there will be some clear spells in the southwest, allowing some mist and fog to develop in light to moderate easterly winds. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees.Wednesday: Another cloudy day with outbreaks of rain and drizzle mainly affecting the south and east. Highest temperatures of 5 to 10 degrees, with mostly moderate easterly winds.Wednesday night: Cloudy with outbreaks of rain further south. Drier conditions with some clear spells further north. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees, with moderate to fresh easterly winds.Thursday: Current indications are for a wet and windy day with widespread outbreaks of rain. These will be persistent and heavy at times. Highest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees, with fresh to strong easterly winds.Friday: While the detail is uncertain, current indications are for another cloudy and windy day with widespread outbreaks of rain and drizzle, the most persistent and heaviest of these in the south and east. Highest temperatures of 5 to 10 degrees, with fresh to strong easterly winds.Further outlook: Current indications are for similar conditions to persist into the weekend.Join our Dublin Live breaking news service on WhatsApp. Click this link to receive your daily dose of Dublin Live content. We also treat our community members to special offers, promotions, and adverts from us and our partners.
