Ryanair TikTok tells passengers to stop wearing popular clothing item on flights
Maintaining warmth and comfort throughout a flight can prove trickier than expected, particularly when you're restricted to a seat with barely any room to move for hours on end.Thankfully, choosing the proper travel attire could significantly improve your comfort whilst airborne. Whilst aeroplanes remain the fastest way to journey across the globe, they're scarcely renowned for passenger ease. Travellers regularly discover themselves crammed into tight seating for lengthy durations with little chance to stretch or avoid going numb.In reality, true comfort is usually only available to those prepared to spend substantial sums on first-class tickets with larger and more luxurious seats. And if you've chosen a more economical airline, such as Ryanair, the limited comforts found on other services may have to be surrendered in return for lower prices, including decreased legroom or being placed in a more compact seat.Due to this, whatever comfort exists becomes progressively more valuable during those extended hours in the sky. However, the airline has lately turned to social media to advise passengers against donning a specific garment during their journeys, leaving numerous people puzzled. In clips shared on TikTok, the carrier posted a video of an aircraft displaying the Ryanair livery dropping over brilliant blue waters before landing at what appears to be Corfu airport. A celebratory melody plays in the clip, before a voice delivers the well-known line: "Thank you for flying Ryanair", reports the Manchester Evening News. This tune and announcement feature on every Ryanair journey. "It's 2026, let's stop travelling in jeans," stated the text overlaying the video, with a 'please' included in the caption.Yet this pronouncement baffled followers, as numerous people rushed to the comments area to ask why denim should be avoided whilst travelling. "What is wrong with jeans please explain," one person asked. The airline replied: "what's right with them?".Notably, multiple viewers sided with the carrier's position, acknowledging that jeans aren't the most comfortable garment to wear, especially during extended periods of sitting. One person commented: "So real. I'll never get it."Agreed. It needs to be banned. Comfies only!" someone else remarked, whilst another revealed: "always wear leggings." One person humorously proposed: "Ok I'll fly in my 18th century historically accurate outfit."Nevertheless, not everybody supported Ryanair's view, with some declaring they'd carry on wearing jeans during flights. "No it's an hour let me live," another person responded, displaying themselves in jeans aboard a Ryanair flight.A different individual explained they'd continue wearing denim as the trousers 'wouldn't fit' in their hand luggage, and they weren't prepared to pay the notorious extra charge levied by the carrier for checked baggage.Join our Dublin Live breaking news service on WhatsApp. Click this link to receive your daily dose of Dublin Live content. We also treat our community members to special offers, promotions, and adverts from us and our partners.
