Boy rushed to hospital following dog attack in west Dublin

A boy has been rushed to hospital following a dog attack in Dublin.Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene after the incident happened in Clonsilla at around 1:30pm on Saturday afternoon. The boy was rushed to Temple Street Children's Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.The dog was removed from the scene, and arrangements are being made with the local veterinary services for it to be euthanized. A Garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene following report of an incident involving a dog at Clonsilla, Dublin 15, Saturday 31 January 2026 at approximately 1.30pm."A male child was conveyed to Temple Street Children's Hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening at this time.vThe dog has been removed by the Dog Warden and arrangements are being made with the local veterinary services for it to be euthanized. Investigations are ongoing."This latest incident comes days after an infant boy was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being attacked by a dog in Co Kilkenny. The young child was attacked by the dog at a home in Callan at around 3pm on Wednesday afternoon.Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene while two dogs, which were involved in the incident, were removed from the scene.
