Dan Sheehan joins elite athletes as new ambassador for Optimum Nutrition

Optimum Nutrition has launched a new global marketing campaign featuring Ireland rugby international and Leinster hooker Dan Sheehan as a central figure, alongside England playmaker Marcus Smith and McLaren Formula 1 driver Lando Norris. The campaign, titled The Optimum Advantage, is built around the idea that elite athletes closely guard the marginal gains that give them a competitive edge. The sports nutrition brand said the initiative reflects its heritage in performance nutrition, which dates back to 1986, and highlights the role its products play in supporting training, recovery and performance. Sheehan, who is known for his power and on-field performances, is positioned in the campaign as an example of an athlete who focuses on meticulous preparation across all aspects of performance, including nutrition. His inclusion follows a standout Guinness Men’s Six Nations Championship in which he became the highest try-scoring forward in the tournament’s history. Optimum Nutrition said the campaign builds on its existing partnership with the IRFU and aims to encourage athletes and consumers to apply the same mindset and preparation principles used by elite performers. The initiative targets both professional athletes and amateur competitors, with content rolling out across global and social media channels. Colin Wescott-Pitt, global chief brand officer at Glanbia, said: “At Optimum Nutrition, we believe in empowering athletes to unlock their full potential, and the 'Optimum Advantage' campaign articulates this perfectly. “Building on our strong partnership with the IRFU, this campaign underscores our commitment to Irish rugby and to delivering world-class nutrition.” Sheehan said the campaign reflects the mindset shared by competitors at every level. It’s not about flashy gestures; it’s about your preparation and the quiet confidence of knowing you’ve given yourself every possible advantage.”
