Batman & Wonder Woman’s Confirmed Roles In Man Of Tomorrow Are A Huge Relief

When James Gunn was placed in charge of DC Studios, he chose Superman as the character to kickstart the new DC Universe. 2025's Superman was a huge success at the box office, got audiences invested in David Corenswet's Kal-El, and created a lot of enthusiasm for the franchise's future. That's why Gunn moved quickly to get Man of Tomorrow going. But after rebooting the Man of Steel, questions have remained about when the DC Universe's versions of Batman and Wonder Woman will be introduced. There were even speculation/rumors that the other two members of DC's Trinity could be featured in the Superman follow-up in some capacity. Now, Batman and Wonder Woman's roles in Man of Tomorrow have been addressed. Batman & Wonder Woman Won't Be In Man Of Tomorrow Batman stands between Superman and Wonder Woman, their capes flowing in the wind Due to the rampant online conversations about Bruce Wayne and Diana Prince being in the movie, it was only a matter of time before Gunn addressed the rumors. As is customary for the perpetually online co-CEO of DC Studios, he responded to a fan asking if auditions for the Dark Knight were held in late 2025. Gunn debunked the rumor and confirmed Batman and Wonder Woman aren't being cast for Man of Tomorrow, saying: All these rumors of Batman and Wonder Woman auditions are false If you think Gunn's response is playfully hiding their involvement because both DC heroes have already been cast, that'd be wrong, too. Another user asked him directly, "Would you like to throw water on my theory that they’re both in the movie (in some capacity)?" to which Gunn simply said, "Yep.", confirming that neither Batman nor Wonder Woman is going to appear, even for as little as a cameo. Rather than let the rumor mill continue to churn about this topic, Gunn smartly put an end to it before it got out of control. Lingering rumors about their involvement would only raise the chance of disappointment when they wouldn't appear. Batman & Wonder Woman Not Being In Man Of Tomorrow Is Good For Everyone The DCEU trinity of Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman in promotional material for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) It's also just smart of Gunn to keep Batman and Wonder Woman out of Man of Tomorrow in general. Doing so would've ignited more comparisons between his vision and Zack Snyder's, as both would've used their Superman solo movie follow-up to introduce DC's other icons. And with Lex Luthor poised for a big role in Man of Tomorrow, the similarities between the characters involved would be impossible to ignore, even if the plots and characterizations are wildly different. Putting them in Man of Tomorrow also would've meant reducing both to secondary roles as the film focuses on Lex and Superman. Batman and Wonder Woman deserve the spotlight when they officially debut in the DC Universe, just like Clark Kent did. The franchise now retains total creative freedom when planning Wonder Woman and Batman's introductions in their respective solo projects. And as much as that benefits the future DC Universe characters, it also helps Man of Tomorrow. Their additions could've taken the focus away from Superman and Lex, either from a story or fan discussion perspective. Rather than having Batman and Wonder Woman further crowd the ensemble and steal attention from its main players, they'll be saved for a future project. I still wouldn't be surprised if Man of Tomorrow plants some seeds about Batman and Wonder Woman's presence in the DC Universe, though, allowing the Trinity to join forces before too long.
