Privacy watchdog wins right to challenge TikTok stay in the Supreme Court
The Supreme Court has agreed to hear an urgent challenge by privacy watchdog the Data Protection Commission (DPC) to a stay on orders it made against Chinese-owned video sharing platform TikTok. Last May, TikTok launched an appeal against the DPC’s decision to impose a €530 million fine on foot of a finding that the platform had failed to protect the personal data of European Economic Area (EEA) users during data transfers outside of Europe.
