UK snow maps show England and Wales hit across 240 miles with up to 10 inches
A wall of snow is due to smash into a wide area of Wales and England burying Brits in up to 10 inches of the white stuff in the coming days, according to new weather charts.Snow depth predictions from Metdesk show a 240-mile stretch of Wales and England, stretching from Swansea in the west to Norwich in the east, buried under up to 10.6 inches of snow on Friday (January 9) as the map turns dark blue.The snow is set to be deepest in Wales where people living in the Brecon Beacons National Park will see almost a foot of snow settled on the ground by 9am on Friday, according to the charts.Meanwhile, the deepest drifts in England are forecast to be just over the border in Cotswolds, with as much as 9 inches settling there on the same day.On that day, Scotland is where the deepest patches of snow will be seen, with as much as 23 inches or two feet of snow in the north west.Meanwhile Brits are facing freezing temperatures tonight with schools across the country announcing they will be closed on Monday and weather warnings for snow and ice in place for the coming days.The Met Office has rolled out a series of weather warnings urging Brits to take care ahead of especially frosty conditions with temperatures plummeting below zero.Maps show staggering incoming lows of -11C developing over the next 24 hours, and nearly countrywide snowfall in some cases reaching depths of up to 16 inches.The Met Office's forecast for Tuesday to Thursday warns of a "band of rain and snow moving erratically eastwards across the UK during Tuesday and Wednesday. Drier initially on Thursday before another spell of rain and snow possibly arrives later".
