Russo Bros. Officially Starts Countdown To Avengers: Doomsday Release Exactly 1 Year From Now

Anthony and Joe Russo celebrate the arrival of Avengers: Doomsday in a year from now with an official countdown. Robert Downey Jr. isn't the only veteran returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe next year, as the Russos were revealed in 2024 to be coming back for two of the most important films in The Multiverse Saga. As the Russo brothers are making their return to the MCU in 2026 after having directed Avengers: Doomsday, they shared a new teaser with a full countdown to the film's release, with it being only a year away as of today. As of this week, multiple Avengers: Doomsday trailers are being shown in front of Avatar: Fire and Ash, with one teaser being in theaters for a week before shifting to the next one. Principal photography on the massive Phase 6 installment wrapped back in September, with additional photography reportedly taking place in spring 2026. The only other MCU film coming up before Avengers: Doomsday is Spider-Man: Brand New Day, with Tom Holland reprising the role of Peter Parker for the first time since 2021. It's still unclear if he will be back for the ensemble film next December.
After Jonathan Majors' firing, the MCU will focus on Victor von Doom as the main villain of The Multiverse Saga, with Downey Jr. bringing the famous foe to life. The Iron Man star was announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2024 to be portraying Doctor Doom in the two new Avengers films. Coming up next for the Russo brothers is Avengers: Secret Wars, with filming slated to begin next summer. Along with Doctor Doom, the four leads in The Fantastic Four: First Steps are also confirmed to be part of the Phase 6 finale, after appearing in Avengers: Doomsday. Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday debuts on December 18, 2026.
