Tomb Raider Returns With Surprise New Release Ahead Of Legacy Of Atlantis

Tomb Raider is mounting a major comeback with Legacy of Atlantis next year, but it's getting the ball rolling before then. The Game Awards reveal of both Legacy of Atlantis and the 2027 game Tomb Raider: Catalyst made it clear that the franchise is full speed ahead once more. Now, it's become clear that a mobile port will be the first step. Today, Feral Interactive revealed a YouTube trailer for an iOS and Android port of the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot. The trailer shows the game running on both phones and tablets with a new touch-based UI. Tomb Raider's port will release on February 12, 2026. Tomb Raider Is Officially Headed To Mobile Lara Croft On The Go Again Tomb Raider was a graphical flagship when it released on seventh-generation consoles, so even 12 years later, it's impressive to see it headed to mobile devices. The trailer reveals some graphical compromises compared to the PC version, but the overall look of the game remains generally intact. This isn't Lara Croft's first outing on mobile, but it's the first time a Tomb Raider game in the classic sense has made its way to Android and iOS. Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, for example, played out from an isometric perspective, and Lara Croft GO took a puzzle game approach similar to Hitman GO. Lara Croft's Future Is Looking Bright So Much In The Works Feral Interactive has plenty of experience in mobile ports, having previously handled the conversion of Guardian of Light, along with games like Alien: Isolation and Total War titles. Tomb Raider could be one of the bigger challenges, but it seems to be in capable hands. This might not be as major a venture as either Legacy of Atlantis or Catalyst, but it's clear that Lara Croft is back into the swing of regular action. The franchise took a backseat after 2018's Shadow of the Tomb Raider, with remasters of the first six Tomb Raider games eventually rolling around in 2024 and 2025. Backstage, there's been a good bit of corporate shuffling, as publisher Square Enix sold the Tomb Raider license and studio. Legacy of Atlantis is a remake of the original 1996 game, so we still won't be getting an entirely new entry until Catalyst. Even so, it's nice to see that the franchise has been gearing up for a grand return. Without any news on whether Uncharted will ever return or whether the recent Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will get a sequel, Tomb Raider commands the spotlight in the adventuring field.
