Luas power fault leads tp major disruptions in Dublin city
Dublin commuters are reporting major ‘chaos’ on Wednesday morning as a power fault has disrupted Luas services.
The power fault has resulted in the green line being completely inoperable for a period of time.
Luas users have taken to X venting their frustrations, with many aggrieved that the app and website wasn’t updated timely.

A notice was issued via X at 9am on Wednesday morning, with passengers advised that Green Line services were ‘currently down due to a power fault.’
The transport service confirmed that all Luas tickets were valid on Dublin Bus ‘for the duration of this service disruption.’
A follow-up confirmed that the Green Line was back, but only operating between Sandyford and Brides Glen.

The service said: ‘Passengers, please be advised Green Line services are currently operating between Sandyford and Brides Glen only. No service between Sandyford and Broombridge.
‘Please be advised Red Line services are currently only operating between Tallaght/Saggart and Smithfield. There is currently no service operating between Smithfield and The Point/ Connolly. This is due to a power fault.
‘Luas tickets are valid on Dublin Bus for the duration of this service disruption.’

It comes after a Luas broke down outside Trinity College before 9am on Wednesday morning with traffic confirmed to be ‘building’ on Westmoreland Street as a result.
One person took to X to confirm that ‘best mode of mobility is legs right now’ in the capital.
Oonagh Duggan said the city centre was at a ‘stand still’ as a result of the power outage, with cyclists and walkers ‘getting by no problem.’
She added: ‘If you’ve limited mobility ie in a wheelchair or other, there are significant delays this morning in Dublin’s south side.’
