Murder investigation as man burnt to death after row with neighbour
Emergency services were called to reports of a dispute in Coastline Village off Ostend Road in Walcott at around 5pm on Sunday.
Crews arrived to find a man with serious burns after a fire which is believed to have been started deliberately in the doorway of a home.
The victim, a man in his 70s, was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for treatment.
He died as a result of his injuries in the early hours of Monday.
A man aged in his 40s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder and taken into police custody.
He has been further arrested on suspicion of murder and will be questioned by detectives today at Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre.
Detective Chief Inspector Kev Barber, from the Norfolk and Suffolk Major Investigation Team is leading the enquiry.

He said: “While we are still in the early stages of our investigation, we can confirm both the victim and suspect were known to one another and were neighbours.
“The focus of our enquiries will be to understand the circumstances leading up to the incident yesterday. We have cordons on two addresses and officers will conduct scene enquiries throughout the day.
“With Walcott being a small village, I appreciate this incident is likely to cause public concern, but based on what we know so far, we don’t believe there is any wider threat to the public.
“I would urge anyone with information about this incident, or anything they think could assist our investigation to contact police.”
