Grab the woollies! It's snowing in parts of Ireland
While many of us have been feeling the bitter chill in the air this week, it seems the weather in parts of the country has taken it to the next level, and it’s snowing.
While the temperatures are coming in at around 6/7degrees, the air temperature is much cooler, with areas around mountainous regions registering around 1-2degrees.
Carlow Weather shared a video on their X profile of the snow falling, and wrote: ‘Snow falling in Roundwood, Wicklow, as that band of rain and snow moves Southeast.’

The possiblity for snow has been widely speculated, given the chill in the air, but the forecasts only mentioned rain, not snow.
The Met Eireann forecast for Leinster during the day of Saturday reads: ‘A mix of cloud and sunny spells this morning with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle sinking southeastwards, clearing by early afternoon with sunny spells and isolated showers following.
‘Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees in moderate north to northwest winds, fresher at times near eastern coasts.’

Tonight, however, is a different story, with the forecast saying: ‘A cold and mostly clear night with just isolated showers.
‘Frost and possibly some ice will form in places with lowest temperatures of -2 to +2 degrees. Light westerly or variable breezes with allow mist and fog patches to develop.’
As for Sunday, there are isolated showers on the horizon, with rain expected to all areas of the province by early evening, and highest temperatures in the afternoon of around 4-8degrees.
