Urgent 'do not eat' warning for popular €3.95 breakfast item after contamination scare

Consumers are being advised to not eat a specific batch of Nutrilean Chocolate Brownie Overnight Oats because of a contamination scare.The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has confirmed that Listeria monocytogenes was detected in a batch of these overnight oats, priced at €3.95.A spokesperson said: "The above batch of Nutrilean Chocolate Brownie Overnight Oats is being recalled due to the presence of Listeria monocytogenes."The affected pack has a best before date of 25/11/2025.Listeria monocytogenes is a type of bacteria that can cause serious illness in some people. The FSAI explained: "Symptoms of Listeria monocytogenes infection can include mild flu-like symptoms, or gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. In rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications."Some people are more vulnerable to Listeria monocytogenes infections, including pregnant women, babies, and people with weakened immune systems, including the elderly.
