Pimkie’s Owner Acquires Chevignon: A New Era for the French Fashion Brand

The owner of Pimkie now takes control of Chevignon. The company Amoniss, chaired by French businessman Salih Halassi, has been the new president of Établissements Charles Chevignon, the company that operates the historic brand known for its leather garments since mid-September, according to Fashion Network. The operation has been carried out discreetly.   Amoniss is one of the players that has shown recent interest in corporate operations in French fashion. The company presented an offer of reprise partielle or partial rescue for part of the activities of the Ikks group, currently in bankruptcy proceedings in France. Halassi, 50, previously relaunched the hosiery brand Kindy and started his career in the textile trade and textile printing businesses.   In 2023, Amoniss took over Pimkie and its more than 200 stores from the Mulliez group in a deal carried out together with Lee Cooper France and Ibisler Tekstil. That same year, Halassi also positioned itself for the purchase of Naf Naf, finally acquired by the French Beaumanoir group.   Earlier this year, it transpired that Stéphane Collaert, who had taken control of Chevignon in 2019 along with Thierry Le Guénic before running it alone, was no longer listed as the owner of the company. The sales team presented the fall winter collection at trade shows, while maintaining discretion over the identity of the new head.         Confirmation came in mid-September, when corporate documentation placed Amoniss as the new president of Établissements Charles Chevignon. The brand maintains two stores in Paris and outlets in Cannes, Toulouse and Le Touquet, as well as a presence in several Galeries Lafayette stores, according to its ecommerce platform.   Following the September announcement of a distribution agreement with Shein, Salih Halassi has opted for a low profile regarding its corporate moves. No details have been communicated on the planned strategy for the brand.   The entry of Amoniss marks a new phase for Chevignon, a historic firm in the French market with its own presence and distribution in the multi-brand channel. The company will continue to operate its current network while Pimkie’s owner’s plan for the brand remains to be determined.
