Sounds of Northern Ireland captured on track to help boost tourism

TOURISM NI - 'GIANT AWAKENING'Water gently washing over the distinctive basalt pillars of the Giant's Causeway in Co Antrim and the vibrant atmosphere of Belfast's St George's Market are amongst the audio elements that have been recorded for an innovative digital initiative showcasing Northern Ireland.Tourism NI has unveiled its debut ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response) recording, utilising calming sounds from across the region to foster tranquillity and entice visitors to explore.The initiative also captures the audio essence of Derry's Halloween festivities, the Marble Arch caves in Co Fermanagh and Co Antrim's Glenariff Forest Park.The recording, titled Giant Awakening, will be accessible on platforms such as Spotify and YouTube.ASMR refers to a tingling sensation that certain individuals experience when exposed to specific sounds and visual triggers.Therapeutic sound practitioner Tessa Ann Greer, who appears in the production, explained that natural sounds and rhythms can facilitate relaxation.She commented: "I am delighted to work with Tourism NI on such an innovative and positive campaign – I know only too well the powerful healing qualities of sound.An aerial view of Belfast City Hall (Image: Chris Hill via Getty Images)"I combine my love of sound with the delivery of therapeutic based classes and events to promote relaxation and self-discovery."To encapsulate the spirit of Northern Ireland through audio, Tourism NI collaborated with Belfast-based Redcap Productions and audio production house Felbryn Studios, employing a sound-centric methodology and concentrating on recording comprehensive voiceover work, foley artistry and sound effects.
