New Coolock homes offer accessible housing for Dublin seniors
Stock image(Image: Getty Images)Thirty-two new senior citizen homes have opened at Glin Court in Coolock, replacing an older housing complex on the site.Dublin City Council, the Department of Housing, and Local Government have announced the development in partnership with Purcell Construction Ltd and Paul Keogh Architects. These include one-bedroom apartments, a landscaped residential courtyard, and a community kitchen that will also serve as a hub for the local meals-on-wheels service.With all units designed to the highest A-rated energy standards, residents will have their own door access with a mixture of private gardens and balconies. Every home meets the spatial recommendations of the National Disability Authority’s Buildings for Everyone and is fully capable of adaptation for wheelchair dependable living.Speaking at the official opening Lord Mayor of Dublin Councillor Ray McAdam stated: “This development is a welcome milestone in our ongoing work to deliver inclusive, sustainable housing in Dublin City.”“It reflects our shared vision for building vibrant and well-connected communities.
